About Mike

In 2011 I attempted RAAM and lost.  After almost 2300 miles in 8 days, 15 hours and 35 minutes, medical complications forced me to quit the race.  Although many people said that alone was a major accomplishment it was for me, unfinished business.  Now, three years later I am making another attempt. Yes, I learned a lot after my try.  I learned there will be aches, pains and issues you can’t even begin to imagine....   Read More

The prospect of d-r-I-v-I-n-g through Kansas is reason enough to board a plane and fly over it! I gotta believe this morning as I sit east of the Rocky Mountains you are climbing, the prospect of r - i - d - i - n - g through f - l - a - t Kansas is pretty appealing to you. Mike, RAAM is true test of

RAAM is true test of one's mettle and endurance. You have proven to me that anything is possible, you just have to stand up and take a chance. Don't be afraid to get out there and try something new and challenging! Riding my bike has brought much joy to my life. Plus it gives me an outlet for my frustrations. Just hit the road and pedal them away! I truly admire your strength and tenacity. You, Mike, are a man grit!!! Thank you for riding your bike across America! Keep on keeping on! Hi Mike,

Don't know you, but we have a mutual friend in Tom Wiseman and a mutual interest in biking. Wanted to drop you a note that the wife and I are watching your progress obsessively and we stand in awe. My friends (all Ironman competitors, but not me) all had a viewing party of Bicycle Dreams this weekend in honor of RAAM and we pray for the safety of yourself, your team, and all of your fellow competitors.

Thanks for being an inspiration to a fat 44 year old mountain biker.

I was one of those who thought it was a major accomplishment last time, medical issues and all. That aside, I am excited for you to be trying this again, and I know this time you'll make it all the way to the finish line. Alptekin sends his well wishes, prayers, positive thoughts as well.

Wow Mike! You are in inspiration for lots of people bike rider or not!! You are truly enduring greatness and showing others that anything IS possible if you set your mind to it! I admire your courageousness and determination. My prayers and thoughts are with you and the crew. Be strong and keep pedaling along!

Go Team McClintock

Mike, Robyn and crew,

I have been keeping you in my thoughts and prayers constantly. We are so proud of how far you have come. With each move you make think of the little faces in Honduras that you are touching. I think of little Marvin and his family. Without your time and efforts in the race, and the time you have devoted to CAMO their lives would be so dramatically different. I think of all of the family and friends that have battled cancer, and with each peddle stroke you take, you are making a difference in their lives.I cannot even begin to imagine the sacrifice you have made. Countless hours training, thousands of dollars, and physical suffering...all for others. THANK YOU!!!!

God keeps bringing these verses to mind when I am in prayer for you.

Isaiah 41:10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Blessings to you all!

Haiku Poems for Mike

Even the hills are
No match for Mike McClintock
He conquers them all

A wise word for you
Do not stop for Mexican
It will not end well

It is all worth it
Even the pain of the seat
To see a goal reached

No time for shaving
Growing a beard on this trip
How long will it stay?

The miles tick by fast
When you are a stud like Mike
Keep those legs churning

Team McClintock

You guys/gals are all SUPERHEROS! Can't wait to see pictures of your celebration with your capes!! Go Mike!

Wow! You are in Ohio. If you make a left turn on I-71, you can be home by morning. But that is not the goal. You pop into my thoughts everyday as I wonder where you are at that point of the ride. What an amazing feat. Looking forward to seeing you reach your goal. Great to hear that all is going well. Jeans Day tomorrow at CSB in your honor.

truly inspiring

Hello Mcclintock Race Team!

This is Samantha's brother, I just wanted to wish you luck as your approaching the last view days of your journey! And to let you know that what you are doing is truly inspiring to my wife and I. Being in the military we always have to see a mission complete, and you truly motivate us to ensuring our mission gets completed everyday. I have told some of my Air Force comrades of your journey and showed them pictures and it truly amazes them. These are true and tested war fighters that have deployed to some of the most dangerous places on earth, and when they hear your story they all say that is sooo bad @$$ and are truly in awe. I hope this motivates you to finish your amazing journey knowing many military members down here in Little Rock are cheering you on, and will be ecstatic when you cross the finish line.

Good to see you!

Mike and Crew,

It was so great to see you all today. You are doing a wonderful job!  We wish you nothing but the best and smooth riding from here. You are so close to the end of the race Michael.  You got this!
